IT IS 'BUILDING OUR HOMES' WED!!!!

Hi Ladies,

Hope that everyone is doing ok and enjoying these last few weeks of summer. WHEW! It has been a hot one for certain!

I, for one, am looking so forward to the fall. It is my fav time of the year. The weather cools down, cool and crisp breezes .OOOH, I can't wait!

Last weekend my grandkids were here. In going thru some old pics and a treasury of genealogy books that have been passed down to me by my father, the kids and I were having fun in a treasure chest of family info.

My Aunt (Dad's sister) spent years and years of computer work, as well as traveling to state and county record halls. I have several books of all her hard work.

Within one of these, are stories of my great great grandmother. AND a recipe for her potatoe biscuits that she made and sold along with dry goods out of her small home to support herself in her early 20's. What a joy!! What a great blessing that my gkids were actually interested in the history and we set out to try this recipe. Had to do a bit of substituting with supplies that I had on hand. Then, as I have re-read the recipe today, realized a big mistake I made (THATS why they didnt raise so well, LOL)!!!

We will make the recipe again, and follow it EXACTLY as she wrote it this time. They were a bit flat cuz of my mistake. But the texture and flavor good. I can imagine how great they will be next time!!

What mattered most, was sharing this piece of history with my gkids. We kept thinking how cool it was that we were making their great great great grandmothers recipe!!! It was a surreal and special moment that we will enjoy again and again!!

I feel very blessed for my Aunt's hard work thru so many years. She is with our Savior in heaven now. But I know that it would make her very happy to know how special we feel to have this archive of information at our finger tips.

Ladies, enjoy the simple moments, treasure them always!

Thank you for stopping by. Would love to hear any of your family's special moments.

God Bless You All,

Linda
